The FY 2026 Labor Department budget sets aside nearly three billion dollars for the Make America Skilled Again Grant Program to expand state-run workforce training grants. Those dollars will only deliver if states focus on programs that actually place people into jobs employers cannot fill. That's real money going to real jobs, not wasted on useless programs.

Rural ag still needs workers who can fix, weld, and run the equipment; hope states actually steer those grants toward trades programs that land kids back on the farm or in local shops.

Workforce grants only work when they match real hiring gaps. States that ignore employer demand will waste the three billion.

Workforce training only works if it puts people in jobs that actually need filling.
